Barbara has over 16 years experience working with hoofstock and wild equines such as zebras, Persian onager, giraffes, eastern black rhinos and bongo in zoo settings. Barbara is fascinated by the environmental impact on animal behaviour and has included environmental enrichment such as +R training and more naturalistic ways of feeding into her care of animals.

Barbara is an equine behaviour consultant and positive reinforcement trainer and has trained Eastern Bongo to weigh train, conscious blood draw on Eastern Black rhinos and worming treatment in Grevy zebras as well as doing International Online Agility liberty with her own Highland mare.

Barbara has previously competed in dressage and show jumping before focussing on ground work and building relationships using science based methods.

Barbara has been published in several magazines writing about the benefits of equine massage therapy and in 2017 Barbara was the hoofstock training coordinator for BIAZA (British Association of Zoos and Aquariums).

Barbara follows LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) and trains animals using Positive Reinforcement (+R).
